Event Name: Nissan Trailseeker #4 Meer & Dal
When: 14 November 2015
Where: Meerendal Wine Estate, Durbanville, Western Cape, Western Cape
Category: MTB

We are glad to announce the final event in a new series of four events in the Western Cape, that will make up the offical Western Cape Marathon Mountain bike series for 2015. The series is targeted at the young, the novice and the family but also for the experienced rider. The routes are aimed to be fun and friendly, no technical and specialised bits that only the pro's can ride. The series caters for those looking to get into mountian biking as a sport, the weekend riders and the family conscious.

With great TV coverage, good prize money with provincial points up for grabs, the serious riders are drawn in to compete into a festival of mountian biking.

The show down event of the series takes place at Meerendal Wine Estate, but don't be fooled, we'll show you a new side that you have not seen before!

There are many nooks and crannies to play in around the Durbanville hills, with wide open hills and meandering rivers this is set to be a event full of excitement and frills, we can't wait to tell you more!

Hills or rivers or both! It's all about the fun that you can share on your mountain bike and the stories you create. We'll bring great meals and snacks, while you share the battle scars and war stories with your mountain bike buddies.

This event still likely to happen? Hearing rumours about Tygerbrg club not being contacted about it at all. Races around these trails are always good

14/11 06:45 Riders Briefing / Leaders Jersey Handover 14/11 06:30 Start Marathon

Is this correct? The marathon starting before the riders briefing? 5:45 maybe?

Marathon / 68km / 1800m Ascent

The route starts out in a Westerly direction and heads straight for the straicase to Heaven, from there the route decends into the quarry and through to Fair Cape farms, meandering along the river into Hoogekraal. From hoogekraal the route makes its way through Ongegund, Oatlands and back into Meerendal and onto the Burry Stander trail before heading out over the Vissershok road and up onto the brand new addition, the Signal Gun climb. This is a unique switch back climb that's never before been ridden let alone used in a event. From the top you'll decend down into Contermanskloof and back out to Meerendal to the finish.

Interesting route - looks very roughly like the Durbie Dash in reverse. The Signal Gun Climb looks interesting, always wanted to do that

Again screwed, just like hemel en aarde.

Initial website (still on there) indication:
40km - 500m

Now:

Half Marathon / 36km / 900m Ascent

So much for an easy nice 40k.

Next thing we will hear is the start will not be 7h05 any more (half) because some guy from botswana wants to drive from his home the morning of the event. This late in the year in CPT its going to be killer hot day with that amount of climbing.

yeah i am bitching and moaning, but the track record of this series is really not good with me at the moment.

From experience.....use a minimum of two GPS recording devices for verification purposes at the race finish......and take pics of all route directions and markings......just in case of a small administrative, technical or procedural mistake on the side of the race organisers.......T's&C's apply.

Dont worry the half marathon will only be 28km and marathon maybe 80km depending on which route markers are correct.
