Volta Ciclista a Catalunya 2015

Rosters are packed with climbers because the other riders have other commitments.

I remember that year that Albasini won and there were totally hilarious bunch sprints of climbers vying for the final podium spot on placings

I think this will be raced aggressively each day. There probably aren't a lot of riders with this as a major goal but there are lots trying to improve form ahead of big goals.

Stage 2, some kind of a sprint after a little drag, stage 3 has that 1st category climb with 15km to go (although it's a bit of a joke for a cat 1 tbh), stage 4 the MTF, stage 5 has another climb 10km before the finish, and Manjuic on stage 7 is always great, and it gets really tough when you have to do it eight times in a row.

Paterski, de Clercq and Rolland attacked early, nobody bothered to chase, and so a ~8 minutes gap with ~30km to go was enough to comfortably get the win. Paterski, after finishing 22nd in Milano - Sanremo yesterday, was still fresh enough to outsprint the other two in the end and get the first victory for the team this season.

Last year Rolland and de Clercq only lost ~half a minute on this year's one and only mountain top finish of the race, so if Valverde, Froome, Contador etc still want to win the overall, they need to come up with something elsewhere, early on, otherwise it will be a battle between Rolland, Paterski and de Clercq for the overall victory.

Tomorrow's finish is not overly tough, but it's uphill at least for most of the final ~10km, so it could be an early opportunity to try to get back some time from today's escapees, who will be a bit tired from their efforts in stage 1

Nope, the classics is all they're focusing on now I think.

Yip

Then build-up to TdF

Kelderman have been quiet thus far hey.

Yesterdays stage had the eurosport commentators in a bit of a tiz because the peleton left it so late to chase the break, was a bit strange to see them let them go like that.

If the first 3 did not mess around in the last 2 km they could have a had a bigger gap than 2'40

Going to be interesting to see how Rolland and de Clercq perform

Maybe the main manne don't want to compete for the overall
