Who is going to drive through on the morning of the race?

I'm still undecided. Guess it will be a lot less stressful to stay over the Friday evening and not have to get up at 2am to drive all the way there.

I am, same as last year. Wasn't too bad.

Entered the 80 km and looking forward to it. Clarens was great but cannot wait for the Monster.

As a Buffalo I need to what the craving so will make sure that enough water, electrolytes as well as some cramp blok and slow mag is consumed prior to the race as well as during the race.

Weren't too tired during the race? How is the road? Not too dodgy and full of potholes?

I suppose it depends where you're coming from. As for the roads condition... not to bad imo. They are single lane and there are some trucks so you need to be alert. I think we had a self seeding 08:00 start last year and the registration was completely hassle free. I think I left my place in Fairlands at 04:45. Arrived had a coffee, did a final once over on my Bike, chewed the fat with the people parked around me. The venue really isn't that far away.

I'm coming from Fourways, so Google maps tells me it is 91km/1h15min away. Not too bad. However, the wife is in Crete that weekend and is chewing my ear off about me sleeping over the Friday.

Happy wife. Happy life. But if you do decide to travel on the day make sure you Take the Malibongwe route. The other route may be shorter but that section of road via Hennops is sketchy. I'd avoid it even in the day.

Prep for this has come to a halt.. haven't ridden in a week as I am on penicillin. . So will get on the bike again this weekend coming and well get some more miles in the legs.. tell you what my kids can't wait.. even planning their studying leading up to that weekend to ensure that they don't have to take school books with.. I actually am really looking forward to the weekend away.. as for the ride.. oh well. . I will suffer but I won't he the only one [emoji6]

Have you stayed in the ATKV spot before?  Is it nice?  Prices?

This will be my 6th monster (4 small + 1 big) and I've never stayed there.

We stayed there last yr.. had to take a bungalow as it was all that they had left when I booked 2 weeks before the event, was a bit cramped with the 4 of us and 2 bikes. But my kids had such a great time, we hardly saw them and it was so nice just strolling to the start line without having to travel the morning.

This yr I booked early in January and booked one of those luxury houses. If I remember correctly the luxury spot is about R4400 for the weekend. Can't remember what the bungalow was I think around R1500 for the weekend.

It's just really nice that the boys can have a realy lekker time as well and there is so much for them to do.
