Looks familiar? ;)

Banna, these pictures makes my stomach turn in a knot!

But in a good way, I think...

Looking at 11hrs...(That is Plan A)

In all serious/long races I always have 3 plans:

A - conditions are good, and everything goes smooth. (Yes, these days do exist)

B - maybe a terrible swim, a difficult patch on the bike, a flat, or seriously tough conditions...target moves out by an hour or so.

C - Holy shart, everything is going wrong! Stop, relax & finish this, not worried about time at all, and do it with a smile.

I adjust between the plans as the race progresses.

Good luck all!

Positive thoughts...You got this.

Travel safe.

Have to agree, 11 hours is awesome.

Realistically I am in for 14 hours if all goes well. 11 hours is stupendous, my body would never allow that. I think a 1:05 swim, 6:30 bike and 6 hour run is about the best I can do plus T times = +- 14 hours.

My beloved Cervelo S3. No TT bike for me as I am too fat to breathe properly in the TT bars. Also have 23 tyres as I bought a new set specifically for IM before the route change was announced. It is what it is. If the conditions are gentle I am looking for a 6:45 on the bike including T1 time so around 6:30 on the bike which will include a stop or 2 to enjoy the experience, empty the bladder and just limber up a bit.

I also wanna go 11 hours.  My main goal is to run a sub 4 hour marathon.  2 years back I ran a 04h05 marathon.  Since then my bike have improved so if all goes well and my numerous FTP test / power output calculations etc are correct, I should be able to do a 05h40 bike split - weather permitting.

Hopefully my stages will help me in keeping to a solid effort without going too hard.

The swim is once again an unknown although I think I should be able to do a 01h15.

Of course the above is if there is no mechanical s and my nutrition goes well.

Cant wait!

Looks like a manageable easterly is blowing.  This will however have a negative effect on the run times as you will fight the last 45km into T2.............

Sat, Sun and Mon shows easterly so I think we can expect one realistically.....

Sjoe... 11 hours is fast.

For me it boils down to the last 70km on the bike and how good I feel at 25km on the run.

Realistically I am looking to be on the bike before 85min, the bike 5:40 and then onto the dreaded run before 7:15 starts.........

That would leave me with a sub 4 to scratch there and I am aiming for a 4:10.....

I will be happy with anything sub 12. To be honest I will be happy with anything sub 16:45 as long as I can recover enough to carry on training properly for Expedition Africa 4 weeks later.

You have my race planned out!

Well, almost...Also looking at a 1h15 swim.

But I think I will sit back on the bike a little...Looking at an 31km/h average, around 5h50 bike...

And then a 3h45'ish marathon...

But thats only on paper. Will take it as it comes...

And agree, I'll gladly take a 16h44 finish.

Really hope you klap sub 11hrs Garfield!

Expedition Africa is a feather I would love in my Cap!

Had a taste of Adv Racing with a full moon and Swazi Adventure, and nothing else comes close to this discipline.

I know this isn't actually comparable, but recovery shouldn't be a problem as you are in peak condition, I was scared about not recovering after Epic, but after a week I was rearing to go and have really felt super the last few days on the bike.

Super jealous of Exp Africa...

Let me know if you need a Team Member on short Notice.

Have a super race!

Thanks, you too!

Our team is pretty set but check out the site, there are still a few teams looking for a member!

It will be stunning this year in the Garden Route with no altitude or lack of water and hopefully no snow which will make a change to the last few.

Super amped for Sunday with my eye on the prize for May. But 1 challenge at a time.

The speed of IM is what scares me, not the distance. But removing pressures makes a big difference.

If you feel good, go. If you feel ***, just keep going!
