Ice cream man is a few 100 m from the finish. Looking very broken but managed a smile

The tracking broke for his last segment so didnt expect him to come in when he did.

Busy rewinding to see him come in.

I cant find him anywhere, any idea what the time on the clock was when he came in?

Thnx for the support guys. Super tough. The wind was there but manageable. It was the heat that got us. Think I should stay with cycling....2 weeks then its Panorama tour. Hope ill recover in time.

Thanks all. What an awesome humbling experience. People of PE were the stars as always.

Compared to 2015 I had a great race. Backed off on the swim and took it easy so around 6 minutes slower and hate the wetsuit. By halfway my neck was chafed badly and it hurt like hell. But hey it's ironman HTFU.

Cycle went really well. Took a couple of stops and kept in reserve trying to average 30 km/h which I sort of maintained until the last 45 kays. The wind had picked up and the heat was turned on. Speed dropped a bit. Saw very little draughting. Much less than last year. Not sure why this year but possibly the rolling start does make a difference.

The run went well by my standards. Was aiming for a 6 hour and did a 6:03 excl T time. I got slower and slower as the evening wore on as my feet were sore. Had absolutely no problems otherwise.

My goal was 14 hours and ended on 14:03. But for a bowel movement I could of gone sub 14 but it's irrelevant really. First time for me I had a massage between cycle and run which took around 5 minutes. Made a difference as the 5 minutes gave me time to eat and chill a bit.

A great event, the PE folks are the best by a long long way. Salute to them.

Did not see a potjie at all Fabes. But the braais and gas cookers made me very lus.

You still had a very good swim time, but taking the swim slower seems to be crucial to getting a stronger start on the bike. I had a bit of an emotional time watching your run spilts, could see all of the data and was cheering you on like mad.

Ok so as from yesterday the decision has been made

I too will be an IRONMAN

Following all of you has been awesome and inspirational and I will do it!

Have a very bleak hubby as he was on track to compete then there was a little thing of a mine collapsing and that changed everything so it was hard for him yesterday!

To all of you who finished! I salute you.

Forget about your times and be grateful for your health that you have and your family that supported you. But most of all be grateful that you could train and finish what many others so desperately wanted to do!

Well done

You are HUB IRONMEN

Well done to the PE peeps . I too was one of the supporters (went to 3 different places . Grassroof , Admiralty Way and near the finish) the vibe amongst everybody (supporters/athletes) was incredible . Well Done PE you can be proud .

Thanks man, the support was humbling. Appreciated.

Mind does funny things when u out there. At one stage I was ready to chuck the bike into the bushes and never cycle again. .

Ironman is something special.

Thank you. It took me a couple of laps to figure out where 3rd was. I had marked it on a ride on Friday but come Sunday it was a totally different place.

You PE folks are awesome. Thanks for coming out, I thoroughly appreciate it. If it were not for the crowds I doubt I would have any IM medals.

Thinking next year to come in as a spectator. Just to enjoy the whole vibe or as a volunteer. Going to chat to IM later
