Hi There, can anyone help me with a link to either Strava or Movescount route info for the vulture route at VanGaalens, the one that goes up beyond the Greek church. Or alternatively, just an explanation on how to get up there. Much appreciated, Thanks!

I dont think it is open to general riding and need special permission...

So here is what you do, arive at the cheesefarm bright and early, as in the first or second car there. Then ask around for Erik, tell you want to do, he will explain the route

Thanks, I have ridden it before, and he had no issue with it, problem is we are riding out there tomorrow from home, so will only get there around 10, and Erik will be out riding at that time im sure.

Sean Badenhorst from Tread Mag did it with Erik a little while ago.

took some digging but found the ride.

There were some post on either Facebook, Twitter or Instagram about how hectic it was.

I do not understand... You want directions in your first post and then in you second post you said you have rode it before?? Can you not remember then?

Took me all of 6 hours to do the vulture trail last year (solo). Be prepared for a bit of hiking! Take enough water! Take spares and recovery gear.

I broke my saddle up on the mountain and had to keep it together with cable ties and insulation tape to get me home...

Take a cell phone for what its worth up there. Let somwbody where you are going and roughly what time you might be back! If you come down up there nobody mis coming past you soon to help.

Thanks Typhoon.  Very useful as we're planning an excursion up there in the next couple of weeks (after Karkloof Classic).  Having access to GPX file makes it so much easier.

I made it!!

Pics don't do the real thing justice.

I'll post more once I've gone through my GoPro.

and a HUGE thanks to chuckza   I'd still be up there if it wasn't for the GPS file

Been up there the pics really don't do justice, my suggestion is don't try get clever and go in a smaller group than 4 if there are any issues you quickly see how exposed you are out there t

my mate came short not far from here, flat rock isn't as easy as it looks

Jissie I want this notch on my belt. Few more weeks of recovery and a few more to pick up the fitness. Then I'm going to try rally some choms for this. Awesome pics.

Here's what the route looks like (ignore that straight line in the middle , that's not part of it... that's where I thought I was smarter than my GPS)

The profile....(again, ignore the first little nipple, same "smartness")
