Advice needed

Good morning All

 

I have been riding for about a year now and I am looking to upgrade my bike to a decent hard tail. I am looking to spend up to R20k and the two that I have come down to are the Momsen AL429 and the Merida Big Nine 800. Which of these two would be the better buy as they have similar specs and price?

 

Any advice would be welcome. Thanks!

Suppose it's because you can get a better specked bike for the same money?

Sorry Jono, I have never ridden any of these bikes before but both are very decent brands.

If you go with the Momsen you will be purchasing a SA brand and I have only heard good stories about the brand when it comes to warranty/backup.

I'd seriously consider the Silverback Sola 1 as well....

On that budget you can also look at the Merida Big Nine XT Edition or the Scott Scale 940.

With the big9 XT and the Scale 940 you won't be upgrading much......... except maybe wheels or brakes. Those are good options. Or you coild look at a second hand bike here on the hub......... you'll find a great specced bike for half that price.

Thanks for the comments so far. I will check out the Silverback, Scott and XT. Looking at a HT because at my price range I can only get an entry level DS.
