Hi ASG,

On another thread you mentioned that you will be sharing the results with Racetec:

"Results will be shared with Race Tec and form part of the ASG seeding index"

Do you have any indication of when this will happen and reflect on their page?

Hi ASG, Perhaps its also worth mentioning that my actual time (as per my Garmin unit) was three minutes less than that your manual timekeepers took down.

Another ASG event in December.....SONDELA FAMILY STAGE RACE (4-6 December)

Seemed like it nice end of year event to do with the family, but then some sanity kicked in.

Three stages totaling 120km (20/60/40) at R750.....excluding all other activities, just to ride. Average of R250 per race or alternatively 20km=R125, 60km=R375, 40km=R250. Now factor in accommodation and meals for three days for a family...... mmmmm.....dollar signs for someone.

Results aren’t listed on RaceTec – they are listed on www.asgevents.co.za - they were shared with RaceTec for seeding purposes on their national seeding ladder.

And we’re merely the on-line entry site for the Sondela Family stage race. It’s run independently by Sondela and ASG has no involvement in the organisation.

Oooops, my bad. So the registration part is not part of event organisation......that means if there is thus no registration of riders the event will still go ahead. Are you delivering this service free of charge or is Sondela being billed for it......and if being billed it ultimately means the end user that is paying.....the cyclists. Does this also mean if I register on the day of the race at the venue I will get discount as I am not making use of ASG's services?

If you are delivering your services free of charge, then Sondela is solely responsible for determining selling price. Maybe they don't want volumes of riders and have done a complete breakeven and selling price analysis......just enough to make a profit.

Either way, sometimes a business' value, competitiveness and attractiveness is being determined by its association with others.....case in point. Somewhere somehow someone is selling hot air.......

As a side note.....even the conservation fee for vehicles entering Sondela is less than what will be paid to do a race on a bike there....

....now if the water tables were stocked with biltong, banana bread, hotdogs, potatoes, jellybeans, ice lollies, coke, fanta, Powerade, Monster and other sweeties......with a complementary water and USN spike at the finish.......bike wash and lube included.......emergency helivac on standby.....that would be nice for the price (or is the goody bags filled with pure awesomeness)

Thanks for your post.  Nope - not charging them other than recovering the entry portal fees (mostly credit card charges by bank).  This event has absolutely nothing to do with ASG other than they contracted ASG to use the entry portal we developed in-house through one of our IT companies in the group (as a service).  Many events do this.  ASG Events, Cycle Events and a few others offer this service to event organisers in SA.  I think it will be out of line to comment on the remainder of your post.
