Race organization was not the best. Registration the tannies didnt know much shame.

From a race point of view, it was interesting and a "learning" experience.

We started out at an ok pace, with Karan Beef throwing a few jabs at the bunch from the get go. (They were the only team there). Baxter then put in a few harder attempts off the front, I managed to see them coming and covered 2 of them... missed the 3rd and thats the one that stuck dammit, he took a machine of a lighty with him (MTN kit), apparently that dude was only 16!! Sheez he is going to be a monster.

I thought that Karan would chase them down, but when he got a gap Karan sat up, I was a bit confused as Baxter was not riding in Karan colours so I asked about 5km  later, and was told he was racing with them even though he did have their kit on....

The group then sat at silly slow pace and the leaders pulled a gap. My self and Ryanic tried to rally a few guys to come to the front and put a chase in, but it was not happening. Karan had their leader in a break and they wouldnt help, understandably so. They did pull a sneaky one on us though cause at the 55km mark, the leaders had 5mins on us, and Karan put their "sitting back" away and put in a few very good attacks, especially from Wez-O and after the work we did on the front, we couldnt cover them all and they split the goup in a big way. Very well played by them! Respect.

We then formed a little limp home bunch, but I then went and dropped my full water bottle and had to stop. I then decided to TT home, picked up a few guys and dragged them along. I rode the last 40km on my own or on the front of the little group with a few guys, yet I rode it faster than the first 40km when we were still in a group, to put the initial slow pace into perspective.

Karan rode a good race, but next time we will hopefully have a few extra guys there to make life a bit more difficult for them :) , you cannot rely on solo riders to help. Like Wez-O has said before, more teams is the answer.

Not great results, but was fun and learned a lot of lessons, so was lekker.

Ps: To the dude in the Liberty kit who kept on kakking everybody out for not helping to push the pace. Hey dude, I didn't see you at the front once!! Nobody likes the guy who sits 4th wheel and keeps shouting "ry tempo ouens, ry net flippen tempo".

Jacaranda race started small last year, this year they must have doubled there numbers.  The next event will be end of February just before Argus.  They used Champion chip and results where up hours after the race.

Interestingly about the same amount of people for the 110 km race vs. last year.  But more racing snakes.  Prize money of R50k might have been the reason.

40-50 odd more for the 60 km race.

Well ridden bud.

Karan Beef actually had two riders up the road from the start, so Richard and the MTN Qhubeka junior bridged across to them.

I was a bit surprised by how negative most the elites were, with all racing in the main peloton coming from the vets.

A bit disappointing about the organisers deciding to drop the RaceTec timing but a decent race otherwise.

Results were supposed to be up by midday today as per ASG email comminque - nothing on website yet. This is two days later. Had it been timed electonically results are usually up within a few hours. Simply not acceptable ASG! Charging premium prices but giving shoddy customer service.

I'm not sure how we should feel about being called "ooms" but otherwise it sounds good  :w00t:

I got a email that said that results would be up by:

PLEASE NOTE THAT RESULTS FOR ALL THE WEEKEND'S EVENTS WILL BE LOADED ONTO THE ASG EVENTS WEBSITE BY MID-DAY ON MONDAY.

It is now 3.30pm, not exactly is day is it?

I rode / ran the Duathlon on Sunday in Sandton. It was timed by Racetec, received a sms about a hour after finishing with my results from the race.

I know nobody reads this thread anymore but for future reference: of course my time is not noted. My most expensive training ride ever. Never again will I do a manual timed event.

Email them querying your result and send them a copy of your garmin fit file if you used a garmin else the strava file

Thx bud. Not really that important to me (had a crap day) but proves the inaccuracies.
