thank you all for your input. Some nice bikes shared here.

I have sold my bike to a friend in Cpt and he will only be taking delivery of it in the next month or 2 so I have some time to look around and check out exactly what I want.

Is 30k your budget for just a bike?

If it's not, accessories can get very pricey so take that into account.

(toolkit, pumps, bibs, computer, etc etc can become very expensive)

I have everything else as I am riding at the moment, so thats just for the bike

Been considering a new bike in that sort of price range myself... well actually a bit under that.

i have been considering

Giant Propel advance 2 - full 105 (11 speed)

or

Pinarello Razha - full 105 (11 speed)

anyone got an opinion???

I would take the pinarello in a heartbeat .Very good frame and 105 is all you will need .You can get a racing wheelset later on if needed .I have a Pinarello fpuno that I bought for 12 K 3 years ago .Read the reviews !!http://probikereviews.com/pinarello-razha-105-complete-road-bike-2015-review.html

To add to the mix, although abit over my budget for now.

Anyone using the Trek Emonda SL6? What's your take on it, the lifetime warranty from Trek is attrattractive.

Have also been looking into the cube but there are some mixed reviews online, a few guys have had frames cracking, especially around the bb aarea. Any local experience on this?

So I am in the market for a new road bike, and willing to spend up to R30k max.

What would you recommend and why ?

Asking hubbers for their opinion, rookie move

Buy whatever your wife likes, that's always a better option.

Hi All.

So I am in the market for a new road bike, and willing to spend up to R30k max.

Something that's suited for climbing and needs to be comfortable on longer rides of about 100km.

So far I have only looked at Silverback, the Space and Sirelli range, but open to any suggestions.

I know the second hand market has a lot on offer but prefer buying new when spending that kinda cash.

thanks in advance

Vivek

LONGER rides of about 100km????????

Youmentioned your requirements are long rides and easy climbing. Music to my ears. I recently bought a Specialized Sectuer, it comes with a gearing that is kinda close to mountain bike. So wheras its not the fastes bike around its an absolute pleasure on long rides and in climbs.

Its designed for exaclty that. Im enjoying it. and as soon as I believe I am fit enough and skilled enough I will go for something faster, lighter and more expensive. for now Im having a ball.

It cost about 13K by the way. you could spend a little on better wheels maybe and go for 105 instead of Sora, but the basic spec is kinda bulletproof.

yes I consider 100km a long ride.........

my morning rides are about 30-40km, weekend rides 50-75km. big events are all +/- 100km......... so I want something that's going to be comfortable on a 100km ride.

My current Merida Reacto is a 56cm.

Edited original post: would prefer buying new as I really don't want to run into issues with cracks on a carbon frame etc etc.

I don't mean to sound rude but throwing brand names around doesn't help much. Name/Model is what I would need, along with components which I am looking at 105/Ultegra and the ideal wheelset to complete the package.

Hi

Carbon is easily repairable. Much more so than alu.
