I'm glad that the bike had been found, but this sort of behaviour only perpetuates the theft of bikes. This ole.should've kept him on the hook and involved the cops asap. Ffs man, this is the reason we get jacked. A quick 2 grand and for what!? They continue to do it more and more often. The oke pissed away his 1,800 in buying stolen goods and has no right to demand that your mate pay him that cash to return his bike to the RIGHTFUL owner.

Ffs. This sorta thing pisses me RIGHT off.

I agree with your comments.

I however think the supposed idiot who said he bought it and did not realise it was stolen is part in the initial theft. Also how did he get hold of the original owner? They knew they would never be able to sell this bike anywhere. I am glad the owner got his bike back, but maybe he should still inform the cops about the person who claim he bought it, trusting it was I genuine sale.

Okes let's chill on the dude who recovered the bike. You don't know exactly what happened in getting it back, so don't jump to conclusions

If you've filed a police case then you probably have to get them involved in the "recovery" - they are likely to question the person who parted with R1800 for that bike thinking it was a legitimate deal. I unfortunately bought a stolen bike once (was a good deal, but not completely ridiculous) and I refused to return it to the owner without the police present at the time so I could ensure there were no issues for myself and hopefully no sketchy insurance dealings on the part of the rightful owner.

Not directed at you at all, but anyone buying a bike like that "trusting it to be a genuwiiine sale" needs to crawl out under the rock they live under and really catch a wake up. People who apparently "unknowingly" buy stolen goods should be arrested so that in future you think twice before you buy something at a "bargain" price and to be made an example so that others don't do the same.

My friend was contacted by someone who apparently bought the bike but realised it was stolen and was willing to sell it back for the R1800 he is paid for it.

Your friend should have gone to the house with the police to collect his stolen bike from someone buying stolen goods.
