Be a little different and stand out from the crowd. Get yourself the new Microshift Arsis from eBay. Actually, Campag is my first choice, but way too expensive. Microshift is completely compatible with Shimano.

They should sell Sram groupsets with 3 extra front derailleurs as part of the original groupset

Buy what ever you want. Personally I love my SRAM Group. Best value for money though would be 105 not Ultegra.

 

Bottom line both brands at that level are reliable, if you keep your bike clean. Look at cassette and chain replacement cost to.

 

My SRAM group has never let me down and is light. I have used Shimano 105's on older bike and it is also reliable but not as smooth.

Also if aesthetics are important I would go for SRAM. Shimano make the ugliest groups

I'm also looking at a new groupset, specifically Ultegra Mech. vs Ultegra Di2. Very few places if any in South Africa have prices listed online and I've been basing my budgeting on international websites. Got a huge shock what these retail for here (according to my lbs).

Have you checked CWC? I did lots of groupo searching recently and their GOOD specials come pretty close to the best deals on Wiggle or Evans cycles. And you don't run the risk of duties.

 

Just be sure to call and check stock levels, as I wanted to buy Dura Ace Di2 from them at R35k but they only had a Mid compact crank and I would have had to pay full price for a normal one.
