Spinning Instructors

Maybe I'm just venting here. But shouldn't spinning instructors be qualified in some way?

The classes at my local club are absolutely horrendous (at least 50% of the instructors) and it's very clear that these people don't have a clue what they're doing.

Firstly, shouldn't an instructor lead by example? I mean sitting down and just merely indicating to the class, by means of some form of foreign sign language, what to do, then getting aggravated if half the class don't understand what you want from us this should be a tell tale sign that you should maybe get off your ass and SHOW us what to do and what you want? I've always been under the impression instructors should be more fit than you and be able to push harder than you? Not this bunch.

Secondly, I've never done an instructors course or something but some common sense I think prevails with regards to building up and cooling down during the session? Having a buildup all the way to level 10 requires some form of cool down just to get rid of the lactic acid buildup, but not these people no. After climbing that hill you go back to level 7 flatout up and down, up and down, up and down. Is up and down all you know cause we've done this the entire session thus far?? For pete's sake.....

Lastly, according to the very strict club rules handed to me when signing up, and clearly visible throughout the gym, it very importantly states that you should have a small towel with you at all times to wipe the sweat and stuff. How can an instructor that present a class have no towel, sweat like a pig, to such an extend that the person can't even open their eyes anymore, spits sweat all over the place while yelling and having a pool around them when it's done? This is absolutely disgusting!

Like I said I might just be venting, but this has come to such an extend that I avoid these classes due to these people, and spinning is actually such a nice way to keep going during winter.

Very very disappointed.

My pet hate is the women who gives a class in Virgin Cedar Square who thinks she is a DJ and messes with the pitch of the music - makes some of the songs sound like Donald Duck and others like Frank Sinatra - she thinks its cool and she is a DJ and it crashes any music sensitivities you have. That and the fact that just as you are getting in to a long song or rhythm she talks, cuts it or changes the volume.

Droves me nuts.

If I see her i cringe....

T-bag i did a Johnny G (Mad Dog Athletics) Course in cape town. It only one day. Most of it is done on the bicycles, wasn't too expensive. I unfortunately don't have their details anymore.

Spinning is a cycling related exercise. Meaning you shouldn't do anything stupid that you won't do on your bike out on the road. like peddling backwards or doing push ups on the handle bars or some other nonsense.

Eish! it has been a couple(6) of years ago. I used to give classes for extra money while studying. way better and easier money than being a waiter or barman. Averaged about 15 classes a week. was super fit. wouldn't mind to be that fit again.
