For years companies have been adding ramp pins, shaped teeth, angles teeth etc to assist shifting in 2x and 3x systems so why not add NW profiles to assist in chain retention? Its called progress you luddite :-)

He does have a coffee machine with this weird lever/ press/ handle thing... I don't know what his problem is with the Nescafe the coffee industry has progressed to...

Wouldn't this need a non clutch RD or a Sram type heavy 'spring' system that still allows for forwards and back movement of the RD. Shimano's + range RDs would struggle to move to accomodate the two different chain ring sizes wouldn't they?...

We never had a shifting issue with normal chain rings... I think they making a solution for a problem that never existed.

One of the Schleck sisters certainly seemed to struggle.

Ai ai ai - the youngsters of today.... Nespresso is not progress - it's faux coffee for people too lazy and/or yuppified to make real coffee.

Too little coffee, no control over the outcome, farkin expnsive and now officially a worse global polluter than nappies. That's what Nespresso is.

It's convenient and tasty but ultimately it's like kissing your sister - sure it's a kiss but faaaaaaaark.

@le nerd - amen on the 1x1 - no shifting issues, no cross chain, no dropped chains - just hours and hours of pedalling at the wrong cadence. Awesome!

I think the issue is here that Shimano want to look like they are one up on Sram...Don't get me wrong I ride Shimano and I always have...I have had a couple of bikes with Sram as well, and to be honest I have never had a dropped chain on either system.

Its been said before - create a "problem" that never existed and solve it - now look at us we can now charge more money for a (IMHO) useless product. Make the bikeshops lives hell because again its another set of rings that they need to stock...

Don't you worry. Neither Nescafe nor Nespresso in my home.

Adding more complexity (like the 11 speed drive-trains) meaning they will make more money from the not-so-clued-up cyclists. I just hope current 10 speed SLX drivetrain is not going to disappear too soon.
