Need some advise on selling price, I recently got a Pyga one ten  and before riding it, I thought I would keep my GT Zaskar for longer marathon type rides, but my mind quickly changed and have now decided to sell my GT.

The GT is 3 years old, and has served me well. The frame is full carbon with GT's I-drive system, components are as follows:

Rock Shox Reba & Fox Float RL

Fizik Tundra 2 saddle

Formula RX brakes

Crank Brothers Cobalt 2 seat post & handlebars

Shimano SLX brakes

2x 10 XT Deore shifters

Sram 7 Front derailleur & Shimano Deore XT rear

If I may ask, why the Ardent front /Slant Six rear combo?

The small block at the back grips extremely well especially with the steeper loose uphills. I had the Ardent at the back as well and felt that it struggled to grip.

As far as a selling price is concerned. Someone posted a formula on the Hub some time back for determining this. It was something like 10-15% depreciation every year, post it at that price and expect to get about half that.

Quite disappointing really.

it obviously has to include a cold green at cape maclear.

I find the ardent great as a front tyre, has the nobblies on the edge of the tyre which helps with grip around corners. Nothing worse than loosing grip around a corner and your front tyre starts to wonder.

As long as it doesn't wonder whether you have the skill to actually make it around said corner :-)

EDIT: added smiley. Damn iPad doesn't register smileys.

Ya his formula was 75% of new and then less 10% per year since new. I don't know how great that is but something to work from I suppose. Seems about fair if I work it on my bikes.

To much tar to get to Cape Maclear, but plenty of really good rides around Monkey Bay areapost-56189-0-44847900-1437751536_thumb.jpg

So thats about R13 000, really sad, sounds better in Kwacha at K488 000!

Yes unfortunately that is the way with bicycles, it's like trying to sell a Volvo or Renault. Very nice cars to drive, to have and to own, but no 2nd hand value, I bought a full susser and guys offered me R4.5k for my ht with "new" crests which is at least R4k by it self, decided to keep it and pass it on to my son. He was over the moon because he was barely allowed to ride it when it still was mine.

Have a look through the classifieds and see where your bike fits in.

I think current year price does play a part in selling price and with the  exchange rate to replace your GT with the 2016 model will set you back ±65k.

I would look at getting between 20-25k depending on bike condition.
