Hi guys,

so my Cannondale broke and i have been offered on warranty a matt black frame...

anyone have advice on how well the matt finish on a Cannondale frame will hold up?

in the past i have been able to scratch cannondale matt black frames with nothing more that a fingernail (the 2014 F3 carbon frame to be exact)

can anyone help me with advice surrounding the durability of the matt black paintwork?

currently i really really don't want a matt black bike for the reasons above.

i planned on keeping this bike for a long while as i take pride in keeping my equipment in good condition.

i am really really nervous about just accepting the matt black replacement.

currently my only real option is to "upgrade" to the hi-mod frame in order to get back to a gloss finish.

I don't know about the durability - but matt black does look good...

And if the paint fails it is a warrantee claim - or at least I think it is.... :)

It being an MTB the only comment I can make is if used as it should be it will get marked and scratched unless you riding it on the tar ..... The few I have seen didn't seem to look any worse for wear than their gloss brethren.

Is it really such a big deal besides personal preference?

i have owned a matt black Scott Foil 40 in the past.

it was a nightmare.

i ride my mtb hard. hence it wont always be in perfect condition.

however, i am certain that the matt finish will look more stuffed more quickly.

whereas the gloss finish will hide and be easier/cheaper to touch up as the years go by.

I personally won't go for a matt finish,my SO has a Bianchi ethanol in matt finish, and it picks up scratches like nobody's business, perhaps consider giving it a clear coat,if possible.
