Stolen: Specialized S-Works Tarmac 2015
When: 21 June 2015
Where: Cape Town, Western Cape

(The Epic MTB is reported seperately) On 18:00 the evening of Sunday 21 June 2015, our client parked his metallic grey pick-up in the parking lot. On the back his two Specialized cycles was secured and on a locked and fitted cycle rack to the tow-bar connection. Upon returning approximately 45min later, he noticed the whole rack and his cycles were unscrewed by the bolts from the tow-bar. No security guards were on duty nor any camera footage available as the system was faulty.

Leaving these bikes at that location is just asking for trouble.  I wouldn't go to that center, even if I lived in Marina...

centre is fine, really busy and lots of secuirty guards around - we're even getting a woollies soon,

but i'm guessing the client would have been at the office park next door? or do insurance companies start reporting their clients cases now?

I've felt decidedly unsafe when I've been there before, but that was early evening over a weekend, so maybe that's a harsh opinion.  on the other hand though one of my friends was in PnP one day when some guys tried to steal somebody's child...

I'll avoid it.

I know of two attempts at muggings, an armed robbery (or two...) and a car jacking there, it's getting really dodgy to say the least.

It's pretty much the last place I would leave bikes on a rack.

Thanks to valuable information received, this bicycle was recovered.

Also congratulate Bike Hub for their valuable assistance.

Must mention that the Muizenberg Police showed no interest when approached for assistance, despite the theft being recorded with them. I think they lack the capacity to deal with these issues effectively.
