Hey guys/girls.

So we are thinking of goung to Dubai for a couple of years to build up some capital and then come back here. I need to ride and run every now and then to maintain my hot bod and my sanity... Is it even possible or is everything done at night? Are there bike shops? Can I buy a mtb there?

Thanks!

Plenty bike shops.

Wolfies comes to mind.

Plenty of cycle lanes.

With floodlights for night riding.

But more focused on road cycling.

Maybe its time for a fatbike and some desert riding?

Hahaha! Fatbike has been okayed by my wife! Oh yea!

I've worked here for 4 years. There's a very active road and MTB scene - just have to ride EARLY in summer.

Quite a few bike shops (Wolfi's, Ride, Cycle Hub, Revolution) , but parts are more of a problem - so you either get from SA or from Chain Reaction, Wiggle, etc. Getting new bikes, especially top-end bikes is no problem - this is Dubai after all. Fatbikes are also popular to ride on the sand. Any MTB should have 2.3 tyres for the sandy bits

MTB clubs, groups: try Hot Cogs (for experienced guys), Hatta MTB UAE on the web and facebook. Actually some nice trails, but they are all about 100 km out of Dubai (but petrol is cheap here). Check Strava around a place called Showka and also outside of Hatta

Bring knee-pads - it's hard when you fall, a lot of sharp rocks on the trails. And a camelbak - you need plenty of water in summer. If you want someone to show you around, pm me when you get here.

I'm going there next month for a couple of days. Is it worth buying components?

Piernas, don't waste your time - not a great selection here (no official Shimano agent, for example). In fact, Dubai is not so cheap to shop at (unless sales are on), but an interesting place to see.

Thanks, that's what I thought after checking-out the on-line shops.
