Hi guys, please can you give me some buyers guidance! I'm making the move to flat pedals and about to order some shoes. Right now I'm torn between the five ten canvas Freeriders and Specialized 2FO's. What should I go with? Or is there something else? I'm looking for a pair that will do the job, be confortable and last a decent amount of time. Main use for trail riding/ AM. All advice greatly appreciated!

Both are great shoes and you won't go wrong with either. The sole is a little stiffer on the 2FO.

I have a set of 2FO Clip on order in red.

Not too sure if you will get an objective answer but ...

Here you go:

I have the Impact VXi flats, had Impact Low before. They last forever, offer EXCELLENT grip and comfort and have proven themselves.

Have 2FO clips and they are very comfortable and offer good grip. Comparing grip of the 2FO flat and 5.10's you quickly realize that 5.10 has the upper hand here and in slimming down the Impact to the VXi have cut quite a bit of weight out of the shoe.

Either will do the job just fine, for now I'd say the 5.10 will give you that bit extra. My Impacts from 2009 are still going strong on the feet of their 2nd owner.

That's comparing VXI to 2FO.

I'm wondering how the 5.10's canvas upper will hold up compared to the more rubbery 2FO?

I have the canvas free rider.

It does get a bit dirty in dusty dry rides, but nothing a wipe down with a wet lappie cant sort out.

Same goes for the 2fo's.

there really isnt THAT much between them to be honest.

I use the 2FO , 5/10s & Shimano AM45 -- all are great shoes
