Grand Tour Cycling Safety . . . . .

Bonus

Recommended Posts

There have always been odd mishaps involving team and support vehicles at the Grand Tours, and usually they are honest mistakes.

When this one happened, it was a media car carrying "important people" that was driving recklessly. To avoid the tree, the driver swerved into the riders at the last minute, ending up putting Johnny Hoogerland into the barbed wire fence at speed.

I believe the driver was sent home, but he was replaced with another driver who's job it was to get "important people" the best seats in the house.

An accident is one thing, but what happened here and what seems to be happening ever second day in this years tour with support cars, camera and photography bikes etc - all for the sake of that "perfect shot" or view, is just getting mental.

Sorry to hear that Sagan is now on his way home :-(
