I loved the route but won't do the event again. (Not because of THIS event, but just because I'm over MTB races)

Slogged my heavy trail bike up there just to have girls who spin in the gym and climb faster than me run down the fun parts of the course. So ofcourse that's all my fault for not being fit or strong enough to beat the XC guys up, but damn that descent is awesome and can be SO fast!

Having said that, I loved the route so much I'm considering skipping the Stellenbosch Cycle Tour and rather just go and ride this again.. With no one in front of you the drop down from the mountain must be absolute bliss!

The routes are all open to the public, so probably better to not enter an event if you want to do the downhills without traffic.

We made a whole weekend out of this all the way from Gansbaai...

Unfortunately i couldn't ride due to illness but my wife did the 30km route and she couldn't stop talking about how much she enjoyed the route.

I'm still pretty bummed out about not being able to ride but i will definitely be back to ride this in the near future.

Went to the Spice Route for a nice family lunch after the wife finished before we headed back home.

Yes, stupid of me :)

But that's why I'm saying, I'm over MTB races, as the same routes are just SO much more fun when there's only a handful of people on the trails.

i loved the event. yes, a little disappointed with the T but its ok. I loved the CBC beer station, that cold one was very refreshing. the route was magical esp the 10km of fast flowing single track after the 45km mark. the venue was superb and the Pinotage was delectable. weather was great too.
