Recovery from blood donation

Having donated blood a week ago, I could still geek the affects at the one tonner. Had the power but could not sustain it for more than 6-8 minutes compared to normally 12-16 minutes.

 

Is there anything I should do to try and get back to pre donating performance levels as fast as possible?

 

After having friends and family need blood donation to survive accidents etc in the past, not donating is not really on the table. I did do it 6 weeks before the DC which is my godson event for the season.

I was told by the blood suckers last time I donated that it can take up to a month to be fully back up to regular strength and endurance.

I usually feel good to go about a week or so afterwards.

6 weeks to be 100% back to normal - you can supplement iron/folic acid tablets a bit, but be cautious, no more than 30mg/day - they have a tendency to make people constipated.

 

You don't notice much recovery after about 2 - 3 weeks (but it can be measured)

Felt really pap the day after, it's the sustained efforts that kill me now.

 

Anything else besides iron, I have a little supplement for this week. Any thing else?

 

Does plenty of water assist?

Water is useful initially - with a little rehidtrate - just to get the blood volumes back up - but you should be over that by now, and you can carry on as normal.

 

You should be feeling pretty much recoverd after 2 weeks and mostly back on it.
