Wide Lightning - no UST?

I got a set of AC Wide Lightnings to replace my OEM wheels. The intention was to move the tyres (Maxxis Ardent & Crossmark, both UST) from the OEM to the WL.

I was just reading through the paperwork that arrived with the WL's, and in the very first paragraph it states "do not use UST tyres on any model of AC MTB tubeless wheels" - tubeless ready or standard clincher tyres only.

There is a mention that UST will be difficult to mount and require extra soaping?  If that's the only reason, then it's a pretty weak one.

My limited experience of all things mtb has me worried that something catastrophic will happen if I use the UST tyres as planned. Can I, or can't I?

soap those puppies and fit ASAP,  no probs

I runs maxis ust --no hasstles--the danger is when popping them on the bead don't over-inflate at that stage. As soon as it seats, stop pumping and use the floor pump.

Just fitted the UST Maxxis now, no issues whatsoever. Went on easily without levers, seated perfectly using a normal pump, just been for a short ride and all is A-OK.

Bonus is they look great, and the bike lost 800 grams in the process. Every little bit helps, I suppose.

That's not a little bit, but a HECK OF A LOT!!!...(besides rotational weight)

Enjoy the WL's,.. Best value for money over ANY other offering on the market ????????
