I was bikejacked outside one between Germiston and Boksburg some years back. In the ensuing drama, I got driven around it at high speed by a cop. It was like a maze. How the cop hoped to find anything was beyond me, but he tried. The claustrophobic nature of squatter camps makes them almost perfect places for jackers to "escape".
Bonus Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I imagine you could disappear 30 seconds in if you needed to. Not that it's any consolation, but when we were smash and grabbed on Malibongwi near the Lion Park squatter camp and we spoke to the police afterwards, they said that thieves are not often welcomed into the camp with stolen goods because it brings unwanted attention from the police. Thieves often get a good kicking if they return with stolen goods. Not always the case though I'm sure.
