Is it just me, or has the Bikehubville crew not really bought into the Epic as we have in the past?

The Europeans are leaving all the local heroes in the dust. Not taking away anything from the Europeans, maar hulle is besig om ons oukies 'n goeie pakslae te gee!

Our local heroes can only win local races. YAWN! Hope the new up and coming generation changes this, we desperately need a few riders, not just one, with the likes of Burry Stander or better.

To me it doesn't matter hey.. it is what it is.. I just enjoy the racing, be it Europeans or SAFFAS

Perhaps the introduction of the African jersey is a little to blame for that.. the guys are now not too concerned about racing the Europeans only each other?

Yeah, the new generation tried and got busted with their pants down....

I just don't think we have the level of talent the Europeans have.

Couldn't agree more. Or maybe they just train better and Smarter.

I'm enjoying it too and have much respect and admiration for the Europeans, but I would enjoy it a lot more when we have a laaitie or two that make them bleed. Burry did that and he did it well.

Don't het me wrong. I'm enjoying the racing and each and every one of those crazies deserves massive respect. It's just this thread is not what it's been in the past..

Yip.

I mean we've all seen Nino's training video's and as Sahm said in interview that how most train.. I don't think our guys actually put in the work like the Europeans do..

Also they race against the best all year.. and if you want to be considered as one of the best.. you have to race against them all year round. You have to actually decide and commit and get your behind to Europe (like Burry did.. work a job and race weekends if you have to)and not wait for some sponsor to pay your way to Europe.

For me the whole coverage of it was poor, from SS side. Same feeling for me.

The independent reviews/reports were the ones to follow. But the mainstream media is useless. For an event that can generate massive revenue for the Cape, little is done country-wide to promote (hype it up)

Not even to speak of the live tracker. If the Munga can get it right, why not epic.

I think a lot of hubbers have been sidetracked. . A little thing called the spring classics is a hot talking point right now[emoji12] possibly life has also got in the way. .. plus live streaming. . So we actually get to watch and not just hit refresh on twitter[emoji102]

I'm also disappointed that Kevin Vermaak didn't hit the tents like the majority of riders who paid R65k for 8 days of solid afk@k. I have a lot of respect for guys in the tents and still finished, that's hardcore in my books.

Talking about afk@k, how many singlespeeds are in the race? And rigids? Any way of getting figures?

That is respect
