Help Needed: tubeless conversion leaking @ weld

To all the Ghetto Tubeless guys.

I'm trying to do a tubeless conversion to a 26" rim - Mavic 117. Tyre seats and everything seals except at the weld.

I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere, so limited resources. I have duct tape, insulation tape, rim tape, sealant. I've tried running additional tape (both duct tape and rim tape) perpendicular to the rim, but unfortunately the rim profile with the lip seems a bit too complex to allow for a proper seal like that.

Any ideas?

My feeling is run with a tube until such time that I can get a smaller tube here, and then run a "slit tube" ghetto tubeless with the tyre between the rim and the bead. in which case.... what size tube do I need?

Surely if you double or triple dose the sealant, pump it up really hard and do the Stans shake sequence and pump n repeat that a few times it will seal on that weld?

To keep you sane and your heaven credits intact.......just go with the "thoep and sealent" combination for now. Easier to get the sealent into the tube than trying to repetitively sort out your current problem...... you will be able to ride again shortly, less than 30min required starting from now. The increase in tyre pressure you will be able to live with for now.

Ready,set......GO-GO-GO!

It seems to come out too fast to even get traction :(

Apply a bead of glue across the weld line. Ideally glue that doesn't set rock hard, so something with a bit of flex in it.

Wanted to suggest that.....maybe something from uncle Pratley....but the OP stated he has limited resources. Just applied the KISS principle for now......so he can ride.

Inside or outside the rim?

Inside will make it it less easy for the tape to seal and outside won't take the pressure?

Yup, Pratley WondaFix would work provided I don't mess up the bead on the rim completely.

Fortunately I can ride at the moment (tho mainly on the trainer ), my colleague here can't unfortunately.
