Gentlemen,

Can I ask another question, to those who work on their own bikes?

I do my own maintenance wherever I can - since a bike shop ruined one of my nice Mavic ally rims many years ago. I ride an Alpina, and a Peugot - both over 20 years old, with Shimano parts on them. So I occasionally strip the hubs, wash the ball bearings and bearing races in petrol. Also the free-wheels. Any advice about a good grease would be appreciated? thanks

Also used that for yrs. Very reputable lbs recommended that to me, was what they used in the workshop to service bikes, as they said it was the best by test. Around R80 for 500g or thereabouts.

Is the yamalube a marine (waterproof) grease?

Yes. Most greases are water repellent but marine greases are formulated with additives that improve water repellency, corrosion resistance and also their adhesion to metal surfaces (so they resist washing off).

 

This makes them quite a good choice for bikes.
