I love giant and since you had a giant, why not go for the giant trance? It'll be the best value for money...

If the Trance was a 29'er it would be in my list.

we need a third option, not feeling either of those two :whistling:

Pyga 110 was first choice, but is too expensive

Same for the Transition Smuggler

There are probably some good second hand deals, but I am not comfortable with buying a 2nd hand mtb. Apart from wear and tear issues, there is also the warranty thing.

Have the 2916 camber comp. done 600km on it.

It is exactly as advertised. A trail bike that climbs well. FRS + fox float = a really responsive lockout stem that is very noticeable on the climbs.

Does technical like an ANIMAL.

Just keeps better on each ride.

Gx derailleur slightly sluggish. Mechanic says that's just fine tuning

Massive grip on the tires.

The 2015 Trek has the Fox Float Evo CTD

The 2016 Trek has Rockshox Revelation RL

And the 2016 Spez has the Rockshock Revelation RC3 (not RCT 3)

How do these forks compare?

They are obvisously all budget versions to help the bike reach a price point.

(having said that, none of this might be of any use if insurance takes any longer to pay out as stock of the bikes is low)

2015 Evo 32 is shaite

RL is better than RC3. RL has 6 clicks of Low Speed compression adjustment until it hits lock, vs the RC3's 3. Open, Trail, Lock.

RCT3 is better than both. RC3 is a Specialized only fork.

The 2016 Trek Fuel EX 8 has a Fox Performance 32 Fork and Penske Performance rear shock. A detail which might be missed is that the  2016 Fuel EX 8 and above are new 2016 frames, whereas the 2016 EX 7 and below are repainted 2015 frames.

I also had the Giant Anthem 29er and then also wanted more travel etc.

Had a look at all of it and bought a second-hand, but really good condition Pyga 29 for R27k.

The puppies nuts really.

Do you know what the difference is between the frames?

The EX 8 hasn't landed in SA yet, and by the time it does will be well out of my price range. Pity, as it also includes a dropper seat post.

Thanks for all the replies & input

Insurance finally paid out, and Revolution Cycles had one last one in my size & colour. Great service from them too.

It will take a while to tweak shock & tyre pressure and my set-up,  but the first ride was great!

Looking forward to a ride at Contermans tomorrow.

Just remember when you take your shock in for a service that you don't get your own rear shock back with Specialized, you'll get a refurbished shock unless you're willing to wait about 10 days

I have also bought the 2016 Camber Comp after tons of research. If the Fuel EX8 was available and priced more closely to the Camber I might have went that route as I think their frame size would have suit me better as I am in the grey zone between L and XL. BUT the 2016 Camber is utterly amazing.

This is the best bike I have ever had. And I think its good value (ignoring the fact that bike prices are completely mental in the first place).

The bike is exactly what the Spaz marketing team says it is.
