Giant Anthem X Internal Routing?

Does anyone have some insight as to why Giant would route the gear cable internally but not the brake hose on the 2016 Anthem X? They have been routing all cables internally since 2014 on the Anthem 27.5. Why not the Anthem X? I recall reading something a couple years ago which spoke about the Anthem X being a marathon bike, and if you had a mechanical failure you would not appreciate working late into the night between stages, trying to replace cables routed internally. Maybe so, but why then route only the gear cables internaly this year?

Because with internal brake rouying you need to separate the lever to remove a brake (to replace brake or warranteed frame.) It is a las for mechanics.

Okay so on the Anthem 27.5 for example where the rear brake cable is internal, would the bike arrive at the LBS with the brake already assembled and routed internally with lever dangling out the one end of the frame and caliper dangling out the other? Or would the brake come disassembled and the mechanic must route and bleed?

Where they're supplied with Avid brakes the line comes with a hydraulic coupler so you can disconnect the caliper without having to bleed the system every time. Otherwise the system will need to be bled after disconnecting, routing and reconnecting.

As for new bikes, many of them come 'semi knocked down' with only minor assembly required, so the routing will have been done at the factory.

My 2015 Trance had the same thing. Rear brake externally routed and it has Shimano brakes.

With brakes surely it's safer inside, no snagging on rocks and possibly severing a line? Had a friend flick up a rock with his VIPA which cut a brake line. Fluke incident I know.

With the brake line under the downtube it's probably not that much of a fluke. My front tyre chucks rocks at me all the time.

I have personally never won the lotto but it happens.......

so hedge by buying lotto tickets. You won't win the lotto and severe a brake line on the same day

That's like the actuary who carries a bomb when he flies to reduce the statistical chance that there are 2 on the same plane...
