I took the plunge.....

and loved it!!

So I finally got my hands on a bike - a friend has very kindly lent me their road bike - and had it serviced and set up for me during the week. I've been itching to get on it since I got it back on Friday, and finally ventured out for the first time this morning... and boy was it awesome!!

Now, since I haven't been on a bike in about 10 years, I'm sure you can imagine my wobbly start - balance was definitely not on the radar to begin with! But after a few zig zags and "OMG I'm going to fall on my face" moments, the basic principles found their way back into my body and away I went, with a huge smile on my face!

I am pleased to say that my first ride was definitely a success, I'm getting the hang of the gearing system, and loving the burn in my quads ;)

Can't wait to go out again!!  :D  :D

Welcome, and say goodbye to any excess funds as they go flying out your bank account... ;) :P

Haha I've already noticed this - I spent a fortune on gear this week already! [emoji23]

Haha I am ALWAYS that person convincing myself I "need" something new for my sporting!

That pic is brilliant - and definitely true! I've only had my first hit and already I'm desperate for more! [emoji23]

Like all junkies we say we can stop any time we like...and then the craving kicks in and you'll do pretty much anything to get your fix, including sell your own mother, haha.

Hmmmm, I wonder how much I'd get for my mother.... I did see a very pretty bike in the shop...

N.B. The price of mothers and step mothers aren't so good at the moment due to a Christmas oversupply from cyclist..

Being in the early stages myself, I can tell you that it does get flippen addictive. Went for a ride this morning, tired now and a little stiff, and my brain keeps saying that only another ride will get rid of the stiffness.

I think this sums it up beautifully:
