Commuting Milnerton to Town

Morning all

 

I want to start commuting to town from Milnerton in the mornings and back in the evenings.

Quite happy with the whole cycle path scenario, BUT have the safety issues been resolved in the area where you pass under the N1 to town?

Should I rather just go over with the regular traffic to the N1 and turn off to lower church?

Not resolved. Rather don't use highway.

 

There's a group ( a couple actually) that goes that way into town.

Hey man.

 

The N1 is a death trap. Plus it's illegal for a bicycle to be on there. Nothing pisses motorists off more than us being on THEIR hallowed ground.

 

Safety in numbers and all that. All of the incidents I've heard of have happened in the evening or over the weekend. Note these are the ones I've heard of.

 

Hairy's (Jerome) crew go past the woodbridge island intersection at around 6.45 am every morning. They also collect at the start of the cycle lane at around 5.15 in the afternoons. A leisurely cruise into town will take you +-30 mins.

 

My advice is to get yourself a cheapie singlespeed and leave the Dogma at home. That way if you do get relieved of your bike it's a 2k loss and not a 100k loss.

Stay away from the Cycle path! Read my story below.... commuting isn't safe especially if you have a back pack!!! Sorry to put you off~!! Safety in numbers!!
