Bloukrans Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 What section, the (horrible portage) or the (steeeep section)? The first failure was based on sensible choices and the other ... being pap on the day. LOLThat's brutal - I even struggle walking it
Pah Bear Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 It's like this, but with a d-shaped steel jobbie in the middle, that you can flip up to unscrew the cap. http://www.chillengrillen.ru/upload/iblock/577/EFG_Mz-reboundknopf_66er_modelle-il.jpgAs impossible as it might seem, I hope someone has eagle eyes and find it for you. I might. I always have my head down in stead of up. Completely wiped all the time on that trail. Heheheee.
Pah Bear Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 That's brutal - I even struggle walking it Believe me better to ride it. Walking that hill is pure torture. Never blew so much riding up it then yesterdays walk. Uurghhhhh.
(Deon) Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Read they completed a track to bypass that horrible port section on the Nuwelands Forest track so checked it out yesterday. Kudos to all the okes that did such fantastic work. Similar to the bark filled track over the top of Kirstenbosch, its now pretty pleasurable to do a continuous ride all the way. Now if only I can manage that steeeep incline above Kirstenbosch. ...but maybe not for long if riders ignore the signs and continue to piss off the firebase chief for riding through the base. There is something seriously wrong with people. Time to make this personal. If you see someone riding through the area, please confront them.

There is a (small) sign at the tar footpath crossing the road indicating cycle track further along the path. Just wonder if that's the only sign is it good enough?
(Deon) Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 You could be right but the last I heard the place was starting to look like a "signage jungle". Some riders are arguing the point proving that they know they're in the wrong.

Pah Bear Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Wonder if part of the "feeling" is that the cycle track leads to a portage sector just before the entry gate and that first single track sector is pretty technical, forcing many (I do) to walk, so riding through the station means jeep track till they meet up with the official cycle jeep track section.
(Deon) Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 This should clear it up. The dog-leg shape road in white.
Pah Bear Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 The cycle track is generally well marked. I've ridden it alone and never got lost (and I have my head down struggling most of the time). I've never seen any other sign at the entrance to the Wardens Office (remember my heads down) other than the small one on the walk path as you get to the entrance. IF that's the only sign, it might be the only one that need to be marked more clearly, especially if riding past it into the fire station is a problem.

Jackhorner Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Does anyone have any information about the bikejacking across from Peddlars, I think approx 2 weeks ago, there seems to be no mention of it on the forums.

Bicyclegear Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 Guys, if you are riding the Constantia Greenbelts and up to the Nek, then why don't you consider riding over the Nek into Hout Bay. The #VlakkenbergMTBTrail is open to the public. It is a technical cross-country trail that has been created to add a new dimensions to the urban trail network.
