Anybody know of a nice 3hr 90km-ish loop around Harrismith?

 

Need to kill 3 hours there this Sunday.

You can probably head out towards Bethlehem, Clarens, Phuthaditjhaba back to Harrismith. Not sure of the distance for that loop but it will take you through Golden Gate. We've done portions of it with the SBIS tour. Will see if I can find the rides and calculate some distance

How are the roads?

There was a lot of roadworks. But last time i rode from Bethlehem to Harrismith it was done, and actually quite nice.

One patch 17km out of Harrismith near Sterkfonteindam on the way to QwaQwa where there is still some speed bumps, but noting too serious

Think it will be very dangerous riding on tar alone

QwaQwa Kestell too dangerous . Rather go to Verkykerskop . Tar all the way there and a very quiet road . Used by local farmers . 100km Out and back.

Not any more, but finished school in Harrismith. Travelled part of that road this weekend to and from on our way to Durban SA's

Just the first few km near N3 has a shoulder. Rest is narrow. But road is very quiet. Only farmers use that road. Sunday should be even quieter.
