Why I have to wait ANOTHER year to crack a sub 3 Argus

Good luck with that sub 3.

Luckily, I've done mine and can now relax (just don't ask which year........or I'll have to admit that it was the "Argus Lite" year

I actually did a 2:50 in that year (there was beer involved). Which is totally believable as a best time for the Argus.

Got my Sub 3 many years ago. Was a 2:58 something. Was seeded in A, got dropped on Smitswinkel I think. Kept up a very good tempo, B bunch caught and dropped me on Chappies. Managed to hook it with the C bunch to the finish. Think this was in 2004. Haven't raced Argus for a few years now.

Hell, I might even take the not so smart phone along and stream the last 30 minutes or so. All depends if we can hit a data enabled zone around 8am. Imagine cruising Misty Cliffs watching the Elite Ladies attacking on Chappies and Suikerbossie.

I'm really trying to find the positive of being the stoker on a racing tandem.

hey what, am I reading this right?!!!

sneaky sneaky, but doesn't count as a sub 3!

Haha, you try it. I thought the same until I sat on the back in a race. It's like being on a turbo trainer on a fixie with the wattage set. Nothing you can do except pedal.  I never realised I took some many little mini coasting breaks when riding alone.

Have you been in hibernation? I've made no secret of the fun of riding the The Argus twice on a tandem this year. With some luck I'll be able to do the sub 7. Although my daughter and the 15,000 riders on the road may disagree that is a realistic goal.

HAHA there is nothing easy about stoking on a racing tandem!!! The worst actually is all the snide comments about "chicks taking a free ride"!  Going to miss my single bike this argus.

All the best for Sunday

Oh well. It was not to be again this year. Maybe I should change the title to reflect the Cape Town Cycle Tour and that will bring both me and the event more luck.

Anyone interested in a lightweight Cannondale Tandem with super duper spec?

Does karma actually exist in this life and did I unknowingly or knowingly piss off some karma god?

At least I got to set a PB up Edinburgh Drive. Small mercies.

Hard luck man. I'm honestly disappointed for all those who have invested so much time to achieve a specific target and this has eluded you for so long.

must have missed that. But a sub3 on a tandem doesn't count in my books (this is a debate usually reserved for the second monday of March - this year is different!)
