Wellington - Worcester

A mate of mine is over from the UK, he's riding from Zim border to Cape Point.

I'm going to join him for a day.

Plan is to park car in Wellington, go over Bains, meet him somewhere between Bains and Worcester, go back over Bains together, drink lots of beer in Wellington.

I'm on my MTB, he's on a tourer so I guess we're stuck on tar when I'm with him.

When I'm not with him, I'm not stuck on tar.

Anyone got any advice on alternate trails/routes/roads, places to have lunch, where to start in Wellington, etc, etc.

Appreciate any input/advice.

There is unfortunately only one road between Wellington and Worcester and its all tar.Not much you can do about it.

I can however recommend a nice place for a pub lunch, the well known Calabash Bush Pub on the Worcester side of Bainskloof.

Good luck and enjoy.

Even the Cape Epic uses the Bainskloof pass to get to Wellington. But it is a beautiful route to cycle so I wouldn't suggest trying to avoid it just because you don't like tar roads.
