Rietvlei Trails (farm not dam!)

I also rode there this morning and i am finding that its become extremely rocky and this stops the flow.

I find i struggle to keep momentum and the pedals strike quite often. It feels very stop, start kinda stuff.

There are also lots of sections where its not maintained and overgrown and not so lekker anymore.

The new river crossings are nice but i feel they need to do more to keep up the track and maintain better. There are fallen over bark on the trails and the signage in parts is not too good. I got onto a section that was green and blue and then it all suddenly was just blue.

I am much preferring Thaba.

Its my local trail and I literally live down the road. They have done alot of work over the last few months. Its a trail so I dont expect it to be all flowing and fast, smooth and perfectly maintained like say PWC, but at R30 its more than enough bang for buck and they do do alot of work. They always ask you to notify them of things you encounter on the trail like fallen trees etc.

Im very lucky to have RV and Thaba right on my doorstep and enjoy both.. Rietvlei green offers me just about anything I could ask for.. River crossing to forest section to rocky sections to one or two short climbs..

I really dont have complaints...i have been to Northern Farms and PWC and for my type of riding I enjoy Rietvlei and Thaba more

Yes there's a lot of rocks, but my feeling is if other people can ride it, I just need to get better so I don't whack my pedals. In my case I get indecisive about the line and end up just stopping or I end up focussing so much on the rock I ride into it . In terms of the branch in the trail, I actually stopped with the thought of moving it out of the way, until a guy came past, gently lifted his wheel a bit and just rode over it. One thing I did notice those was a few broken branches along the single track bits which were sharp that could possibly impale someone if they get it wrong.

If I want an easy ride, there's lots of options for me. When I want something a bit more testing on my skills, I can now add Rietvlei back. I think that's cool. Deon was mentioning to my OH he wanted to dumb down that last bull run, but even though OH really hurt there, e en he said no don't - why.

Thats what i did with that branch in the way, just rode ofer it. There some rely lower hanging branches that could cause some tears.

The forest sections are really lekker and and the new sections but if they just cut back on the overgrown stuff amd maybe sort out some of the really rocky stuff it would be better.

For instance, that rocky section of blue after you come out the last forest section, past that boxing ring, by that delapadated house, has become extremely rocky that is tough to ride on but i guess it adds that technicality amd those two two rocky climbs are tough to conquer.

It certainly burns your lungs and is fun to ride
