Broken Crankarm - is it a warranty issue?

Wow haven't seen a crank fail like that; saw a 7800 Dura Ace spindle snapped in two once though. Surprised that Shimano wouldn't warranty that (probably depends on in country agent more than anything else). In my mind, I'd pictured Shimano wanting to get a hold of failures like that to establish if there is a manufacturing issue, etc.

If i remember Shimano warranty is only 6months or so, definitely not longer than a year.

I think it is out of warranty.

1 year on OEM

2 years for aftermarket

Either way I reckon you send an email to Shimano.

The manufacturer would want to see that and possibly want it back for inspection purposes to avoid this happening in the future.
