Hi hubbers,

My son Kyle Britz is at the ETA College and decided to do his research project on the difference between doing the CTCT on a road vs mountain bike. Can we please ask your help to complete a short survey at this link  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KSPZQ39       Its completely anonymous.

Any other comments or feedback will be greatly appreciated!

It is a no brainer..... ROAD !

How can you even compare riding on a slick 23-25c tyre and a mtb tyre. ( surface area)

Let alone - pumping a road tyre to 8 bar and a mtb to 2 bar.

The weight and angles of the bike.

I see your questions are more related to age and personal information but anybody on a road bike will do faster times. Old saying ! ( the less the friction the further you go )

Good luck with your survey but I think better marks would be got from a better topic.

Could be a first research project, I've done it and it's not easy. Give said student a break. Words of encouragement may go a long way to getting this person through there studies, researching topics they enjoy vs crap you're usually forced to do.

Thanks NGUTF! It is his first indeed, sure he'll learn a lot from this and get much better.

Done.

I know my dad prefers to ride the Argus on his MTB. he has done it on his roadie once, but as a recreational/weekend rider trying to ride fast, when the fatigue hits you the easier gears and upright and stable position on a MTB are your savior. Grinding up Suikerbossie on a road bike when you have nothing left in the tank is no fun. So for a not-serious cyclist like my dad, the MTB is weapon of choice.

For me its roadie ALL day long no problems, so light, such speed, many hand positions. I love my bikes.

Awesome feedback, thanks Yusran!  I've done it on both and totally agree, for racing there is only one option - road!  But when i'm out to enjoy the day with full road closure and very little training, then the MTB is my best friend!

Done. Dont know whether im much help though. I slapped a MTB cassette onto my road bike to make the climbs easier. Hope it doesnt mess with your data. Good luck with the survey. Cheers
