TAAG Angola Airlines - Special Luggage

Can anyone recommend the use of TAAG Angola Airlines? Especially with a bicycle and short stopover in Luanda.

 

The price is right, just need to put my mind at ease a bit....

I've flown once or twice with TAAG a few years ago from JNB to Luanda

Sorry but I can't say anything good about them

Oh yes the one flight was very empty, about 25 pax, I could choose any seat

At one stage they were banned from flying to the EU, but this was lifted a year or two ago. There seems to have been some improvement there the last few years.

I flew a few times from Jnb to Luanda. Their 777's are beautiful. Their cargo division is what keeps them going. Go chat to Fernando who heads up the cargo and tell him what you want. He'll look after you

They weren't banned from flying into the EU, they were banned from flying into the US as their security was not good enough for the Yanks. They were deemed as being a terrorist risk

TAAG were banned by the euro commission at one stage, all Angolan airlines were (talking pre 2010).

Currently TAAG are on the restricted list, meaning that some of their aircraft are allowed to fly to the EU while others are not (probably the older aircraft)

Their newish aircraft and some expat influence on the maintenance side has helped them go from being banned to restricted. I've seen and heard some first hand stories regarding how they operate, if it was me I would not fly with them.
