Nope, the Anthem X bearings for post 2014 models are different to the Trance:

Check www.bearingsonline.co.za - prices below ex VAT each. Delivery is about R50 in Joburg.

6804 - 4 (R20.24)

6802 - 2 (R10.22)

6900 - 2 (R8.70)

6902 - 2 (R12.96)

6380 - 2 (OEM so hard to find - special import or get from your LBS and pay through the nose)

Order the models with a "2RS" suffix = two Rubber Seals. Buy a set of spares while you're at it.

These are standard industrial bearings - no fancy "angular" models. The numbers above were read directly off the original factory bearings on a 2014/15 model.

Check out ParkTool, BB, etc for a hobbyist bearing press tool with multiple collets - good investment. Moer the bearings out with a socket extension or buy a proper bearing puller if you're keen. Check with your LBS mechanic what he recommends.

BB and headset bearings are generally from the manufacturer only - just hoes and get on with the job.

Suspension bearings should be full complement since they oscillate instead of rotating. Standard issue retainer bearings will last less than half as long.

Tell Giant that since they manufacture bikes with *standard* bearings. Go look at a new bike in a shop and check the bearing numbers.

The 6804 bearings I listed above are Giant Anthem X wheel bearings, not suspension bearings.

The 6380 bearings are actually 63800 bearings -  hard to find.

Apologies for confusion.

So here's the listed of suspension bearings:

6802 x2

6900 x2

6902 x2

63800 x2 (Get from bike shop)

I said should... replacing with full complement bearings will get you a lot more life between changes.

I know what Giant use, I'm busy with a bearing replacement on a Trance as we speak.

Do you have any special code for these bearings you are referring to? Like a suffix to the numbers below?

6802

6900

6902

63800

And where would one get these? I'm curious to find out more about this.

Thanks

The full complement are generally designated MAX, and as far as I know Enduro are the only ones available in SA - if you're a bike shop you can get them through Rush Sports, if not you'll have to get them through your LBS.

6902. And yes, I've got. The only ones I'm waiting for are the 63800, which I should receive tomorrow.

Hi All,

Thanks for the useful information. I am servicing all my pivot bearings on my bike now (first timer). So just to confirm the correct bearings for a 2015 Giant Anthem x 29er:

6802 x2

6900 x2

6902 x2

63800 x2 (Get from bike shop)

I see above that the suffix is 2RS (rubber seals) but wouldn't it be better to get the bearings with a full metal jacket - less grime can get behind the rubber seals?
