Agree with you guys re the cheapies. However I have moved away from batterypacks 5 yrs ago. I use 2 x 900 lumens flashlights(diameters =135 x 25(35 head))...when I feel the need for riding singletrack at night - one is built into(notice not on top but into) one of my helmets and the other mounts onto my bike with special bikemount in under 5 seconds.

Alternating between the 2 flashlights plus riding with an extra battery in my pocket I have more than 6 hrs batterylife with me on any given ride...and NO rattling batterypack and irritating wires!

AND the really nice thing about a flashlight is that I can use it everywhere around the house and when camping etc etc.

Recently got a 2000 lumens one (use 3 x 18650's) ..fris donnertjie but packed with a punch, that gives me 1h15 at full charge for my shorter rides (4hrs @ 1400lumens) - ...cars don't like me :)

I do that as well, bar mount for flash light, single cell 18650. Those ultra lumen torches are useful safety weapons, shine that into someone's eyes at close range and they'll be night blind for a few minutes, they use them as brown/black bear deterrents in the US.

Could you perhaps post a link of the one you ordered, I'm keen to get one but not sure which are decent and have an honest lumen rating?

Good question, I have no idea... looks like this...

Has 3 settings, high beam, low beam and flash...

Have the very same light for three years and still going strong and I use it often.

This is my go too light and I also have a 8.4v Extreme which is okísh. Having the ability of charging from a USB is a huge plus in my book.  I don't think these 8.4v batteries should be used on USB gadgets but I am not an electrical engineer.

Also have a 3.6v light from Wright Lights and it seems to be working fine.  USB chargeable.

Just to clear up the voltages

Single Lio Ion is 3.6 V with maximum charging voltage of 4.2 V

Two series Lio Ion cells are 7.2 V charged at 8.4 V

The battery pack shown has DC-DC converter that takes the 7.4 V down to 5 V.

Does Nitecor do a bike connector for their torches? Could be a whack cheaper to use previously acquired torches

EBay has plenty bar mounts for torches, just need to make sure the torch barrel and end cap will fit into/through the mount hole.

I had that issue with mine when it arrived. Simple fix was to remove the battery cap slide the torch thru and attach the cap again. Fits nice and snug

What did the battery carrier and cells set you back? Those are the mamba 18650 cells, Samsung make some of the best.

I paid around R400 for the case with the 4 batteries...which worked out cheaper than buying the sealed pack.

I have just contacted battery experts...eeeeish ther ehas been an increase since i purchased mine...the case is now R250 inc and the batterries which are now  2600 not 1860 anymore are R100 each

There is a 2200 battery for R80 but no stock

then there is also the chinese ones which are around R60 each
