I've not had any issues with local support for my TACX trainer. the now retired Charlie Newcomb was always fantastic at addressing any issues.

Most issues though are sorted out with a decent internet connection and a proper PC/Laptop to run the software. Without that you will always be chasing your tail

Total different experience...my flow was horrible maybe even faulty...delivered braking like stairs. Gave up after local / international support ignored me. Forums were also useless. I swore never to buy anything tacx again and stand by this. Also their lock in business model was disaster since you needed to fork out thousands of rands to get the system up(laptop). This has changed with their newer trainers I believe but again...too little too late. When I see tacx I see the alfa of the trainer world. Mate of mine that had a bushido...same thing.

My powerbeam worked from day 1 and is still going strong. Never a dropped connection, weird brake or other hardware failure + Bicyclepowertrading has a very good rep ito support if I ever need it.

Suppose its brand confidence, I have zero in tacx

I'd buy Tacx again in a flash, but for the justification of R20k+ when I have a perfectly functional unit already.

My issues with Tacx have been absolutely limited and every one has been sorted by a visit to the forums. Only contact with tech support was to reactivate licence after PC crashed. And every other bar one has been PC related due to the old pigs I run trying to do stuff that is not possible on old kit running new operating systems.

Other issue in 11 years use has been noise due to sleeve on brake working it's way loose. Forums had a detailed instruction on how to fix, so I do it every few years now when I needed.

The software does get released with bugs but fixes flow regularly. I've gone through the versions skipping TTS1 and TTS2, it's fair to say TTS4 in version 4.19.1 is all I will ever need.

The new stuff is smart enabled so I could use 20+ 3rd party apps to control my workout. How many ways can one inflict pain?

But I firmly believe if you're not a little sharp on tech stuff then you're not going to get the best out of a Tacx trainer. It's a geek's paradise.

And I can send my workout to a few sites for analyses, even Polar to get those valuable rewards for smoothies I don't drink.

If you/anyone can tell me how to connect the Bushido T1980 to TTS4 using Tacx usb stick I will pay for the advice!

Tacx support is useless, none of the solutions work. i tried Windows 7 32/64 and Windows 10 64.

Funny thing is the Tacx Updater sees and reads the firmware but the TTS4 cand find the device

Will be selling the bushido and TTs4 soon!

@>R20K we're really splitting hairs around which is better.

Someone coming off an older TACX unit may prefer to opt for NEO as no further expense in training software is required. TTS4 will upload to Trainingpeaks for analysis.

the Kickr requires you to still purchase software so that narrows the financial outlay gap.

Hi Raptor

In theory this is no longer correct, because last week a firmware update introduced FE-C on the Kikr. I say in theory, because every time I tried (this weekend) to get TTS 4 to recognize the Kikr, true to form, the Tacx software crashed. In it's defense, I am not running the latest version, so the issue may have been sorted.

My point is that old Tacx users should now not have to buy licenses for other products.

Also, don't forget that TTS4 is not free. You have to buy annual google earth and Multiplayer licences to enjoy those features, without which you are stuck with catalyst and boring vr. Unless you buy videos.

Your Kickr must be ANT+ to work with TTS4 and your PC will need an ANT+ dongle.

The latest is 4.19.1 which works well with all sorts of fancy and unneeded variations to power.

But herein lies my favourite bugbear with Tacx, If you have not updated TTS4 you could end up downloading and installing 3 or 5 updates to keep it sequential, rather than just the latest. For this reason I don't use updater, I download from http://patches.tacxdata.com/

and keep then for the inevitable load on a new PC or reload from original.

As far as I know TTS4 is NOT included in the NEO package, it is an extra. As only Tacx customers will buy the NEO this is not really an issue but is when you come from outside the brand. A tip here is to buy in EUR on the Tacx site and download rather than buy the DVD locally. Price difference is huge.

I used google earth when free but did not use it enough to buy the licence. I have about 20 videos but mainly use catalyst now Workouts, as I train purely on power.  TTS4 now has great relative power workouts based on FTP. When FTP changes your workout changes.

I've been selling wahoo kickers and cycle ops trainers for a while now and everyone that's bought a kicker has told me how much they love it,how amazing it is, how well zwift is to train with their friends without having to leave the house. People who buy cycleops will also say it's great but nowhere close to the remarks of the kicker. If you want a good price on either PM me.
