Hi Guys,

Will items ordered form CRC by Standard Post be delivered to your door, or to the local Post Office.

I ordered something last week, and it says it is in transit.

Thanks

Post office.

IMHO...pay the R300 for the courier and then they deal with customs for you (but charge another R150 or so for that) so guess depends on the cost of the thing you're ordering.

However, the courier often takes like 2 days from CRC until you have it in hand :)

The thing is I only provided a physical address, not a PO Box address, so I wonder where it will be delivered.

Anyone know of good local tracking sites?

Would probably end up at the closest post office to your address

They will send it to your nearest post office or Jo'mail (if there are duties to pay) and then send you a slip to your physical address to come an collect.

In most cases I agree with you. Majority of the time I use the DHL option but last month I bought a park tool stand from them for just over 2k and DHL want just over R1800 for postage. So I decided to add 2 tyres for my commuter and got standard postage for free. 2 weeks later I got the stand.

Well yes, large parts will cost a premium for courier, but smaller stuff no problem and if on sale at CRC then defo worth the little extra cash to DHL :P

Here is the details from the tracking site. I take it, it hasn't arrived at the PO yet?

Not yet but very soon. I would go check at the PO if you got a few spare min. Sometimes my tracking says "missed delivery- attempted delivery at post office" and that doesn't mean that at all. It always seems to be there when it says that.

Great, thanks. I will pop in this afternoon.

Take your local tracking number with, Sometimes they ask for it. Otherwise just give your name and say you waiting for a parcel from overseas. They will get a stack of papers and go through them. At least that's how it works at my local post office.

It's still at JIMC A (Johannesburg International Mail Centre) but it has been cleared by customs so it should arrive at your local post office soon. The post office do not deliver parcels to your door.

I always call to get the local tracking number (ending with ZA) as my local post office always tell me they're unable to track international parcels

Ja I have also had that before. Yet on the invoice that they have and get you to sign has both numbers on. I am not suprized they have so many issues and are always on strike.

Try using 17track

It will track the parcel right up to your local post office as well as give you the 1st notification slip number once it has been sent to you. The only thing it won't do is let you know what the duties are. That slip is usually attached to your notification slip.
