I wonder if Bardet has kicked himself yet.. that mess around during the last km or so yesterday is going to haunt him for a long time..

Very very good tour for DD.. hope they can carry this form into TDF.. and I hope they decide to give Eddie B the support to go for the green jersey.

Will Cavendish not also be a contender?

I wonder

I took a second look at that, and what I saw was Froome touch wheels with his teammate in front and nearly went down.

Looks to me as though Froome saw Ritchie wanting to go on his right, Froome wanted to cross to the left but went into the back wheel of the guy in front.

Cavendish still has his eye on the Olympic track squad.. if he gets the nod he won't finish the TDF.. Maybe stick around till the first rest day.

It will be a waste for DD to focus solely on him.. I don't think he has enough speed especially after a long stage not with him training for the track.

I have zero sympathy for Porte he seems to be tactically inept.

He spent so many years as a super domestique is going to take a while to change mindset and racing strategy

Ja, my thoughts as well.

And today EBH showed he's got some very good climbing form too. That's very important for the TDF points jersey because of all the intermediate sprint points on offer out on the road (that are always tucked in between climbs in the middle of a stage), and because TDF stages these days are more for sprinters who can climb. Not like the pan flat old days of Cippo. Which is why Sagan has been able to win the green jersey so easily without winning stages. It will be a very interesting Sagan vs EBH contest this year, I think  .

....

And AC is being diplomatic about 9 seconds not being too much. Maybe not in a 3 week grand tour. But in these 1 week stage races, that's how much these races are won/lost by. Every little second counts in these races.

Watch, either AC or Porte are going to miss the final win/podium by a few seconds. And if/when that does happen, a few people are going to be jumping up and down about what happened on stage 4.

And so it happened.

Porte misses podium by 3 seconds. And second place by 9 seconds.

So those 9 seconds did come back to haunt him in the end.

I saw a tweet yesterday that something will air on France TV later today that will bring Cookson under a lot of criticism .. the tweet was followed up by if the lawyers don't interfere..

Of course it is timed well as this is the time of year where everything cycling is dissected and criticized.
