Hey guys are the Easton Vista's a good set of rims? Anyone have experience with them? Looking to replace my Alexrims R500's- is this an upgrade? Thanks guys! I know I always have lots of questionsBig%20smile

I can get them here at my lbs for R2000- which isn't bad. Been reading reviews on them and people mention the weight quite a bit- they not heavy are they?

Great wheelset!

They're about 1,7kgs but they're really smooth, plus deep(ish) @ 30mm...

Put it this way, I've got a set of Easton Ascent II's and I never have a problem with using my Vista's instead.

Just a heads up though, you'll have to stock 48mm valve tubes.

I think there is a review on this wheelset in a Ride mag some issues back.

Anyway if I remember correctly they say it's the only "cheap" wheelset that is built by hand. You never hear anything bad about Easton wheels.

Thanks guys! Just out of interest what sets them apart from a R2000 pair of Shimano wheels? Is it because Eastons are hand-made?

that's what the review said. Easton prides itself on its wheelbuilding skills (as opposed to using fancy materials, etc).

As far as I've heard, the cheaper Shimano wheels aren't great.

I didn't mention, I've got the Vista SL's which are 100g lighter than the standard Vistas... and I paid 2,2k for them in 2006.

Kieth, do yourself a favour and ask the store you're buying from if:

a) They have the SL's and what the price diff is, because if it's less than R500 it's worth it...

b) If they have the EA70's (previously Easton Circuits) and how much more they are; because they've got better hubs.

I have had my Easton Vista SL's now for 2 years. They are amazing wheels for the price IMO.

Never once had any problems with spokes or going out of true.

Will be a good buy.
