Good day fellow hubbers.

I need your advise on the following mtb. It is a Bergamont 29er carbon hardtail, full specs at: http://www.bergamont.com/en/bikes/archiv/2015/revox-90/

I do not know the make, anybody has some comments or experience with Bergamont?

Is it a good buy at R20000 new or do I need to keep looking?

I currently have a aluminium hardtail and I am thinking that upgrading to carbon is a step in the right direction.

I do not personally have one but my riding buddy has. He is very happy. Bergamont is  associated with BMC, the Swiss bike maker. They have a very good reputation.

I would say the bike and specced equipment indicated in your link is a fair deal.

You'll struggle to get anything new with the same specs.

Thanks for the replies thus far.

If you would upgrade anything on the bike, what would it be?

I will probably use my current wheel set, that is arch ex with hope hubs. So mayby only doing a 1x10 conversion?

Yeah... Wheels and 1x for weight savings. Otherwise breakset to SLX or XT for convenience, but the stock ones are decent to begin with.

Lots of different reviewers have been expressing their frustration at the current batch of XT brakes being specced OEM on new bikes, which apparenlty have very vague bite points and suffer a lot from fading during longer descents.

Why not try some SRAM Guides or even Avid DB5s.

Found 2 more options. GT 9r carbon expert for R19500 and GT 9r carbon pro for R25000, both 2015 models. The specs are below.

Is the bergamont still the best option? Comparing price vs specs
