Best road bike option 20k-30k

I am looking at buying a new road bike and am interested in what the general consensus is on the best offering in the 20 to 30 thousand Rand point is.

 

Requirements are as follows.

Full carbon

11 speed

105 or higher groupset

Good after sales service

I would look at second hand. Road bikes does not take that much beating. Just make sure it is in good nic.

I'd spend R20k on the Orbea Orca (Dura Ace) advertised in the classifieds if I were shopping.

Good deals with your desired spec come up regularly.

Problem with secondhand is that I need a 60cm frame and they are very scarce.

 

Looking at the Scott CR1 20. Looks like a fairly decent bike

Second hand bikes have no warranty. Insurance does not cover manufacturing defects on a second hand frame.

 

And besides, nothing beats the feeling of picking up your brand spanking new bike!

 

For that kin of money you've got quite a few options.

The Cannondale is my favourite out of those four. I'm sure there are still lots of cool bikes in that price range I'm forgetting.

Rather go for carbon

To each his own, but at that price you will not get a top of the range carbon frame.

 

The CAAD will outperform a carbon frame at the same price point. It truly is an exceptional frame, not just an exceptional Aluminium one.

CAAD 12 Ali is only 300g heavier than its carbon counterpart as per an article in the latest RIDE mag.

 

I'd go CAAD 12 without a question.
