Howsit Hubbers,

I'm looking to get a new bike. I currently have a merida reacto 5000 ltd with Ultegra, and a set of American Classic tubbies for racing only.

I have a budget of +- 60K. What I want to do is upgrade to a bike with full dura ace / sram red components, but they seem to be 80K and over.

If I buy a new bike, I will sell this one, or trade it in. (and use this + the 60K for a new bike)

Or I want to upgrade the groupset and get a carbon handlebar/stem combo.

What would you guys recommend

It largely depends on how happy you are with the frame.

Either way you are going to have something to sell to put towards whatever you choose.

I doubt you are going to see much in terms of weight reduction or gains though upgrading to one of those groups.

Definitely sell and then buy anything that is not in the Lampre colours :P

I am sure there will be plenty of Dura Ace bikes at a steal coming soon with the new Dura ace out. If you are in no rush you can pick up some great deals.

You will get better return on your 80K by buying a full bike.

Keep the tubbies, sell the Merida.

Build a bike.

Let's say you get R20k for the Merida. (give or take)

That leaves you with R80k.

S- Works Tarmac frame (just using it for reference, not saying you have to buy that)

R49000

Sram Red Groupset R30000

Carbon Cockpit will be roughly R10000

Then you have a top end bike.

You can buy a set of training wheels on the hub for around R2000
