Hi, my cassette broke and i have to buy a new one the person who built the bike didn't put in a shimano cassette and i want to put one in how does one choose the t??

As per the advice on your other thread.

 

go to your LBS and get them to help you. Even after you get the right one you'll still need the tools and know how to replace it and the worn chain that goes with it

Cassette ratio dependent on rider ability and also crank ratio.

It really is a personal choice.

Shimano and Sram are generally interchangeable.

Then you'll need a chain whip, lockring tool, chain breaker (if replacing chain too).

The procedure itself isn't rocket science, but can sometimes need a bit of fiddling to get things running smoothly.

Either be very careful or get someone who knows how to do it, to have the cassette replaced...

 

I've broken off a tooth with the chain whip from not aligning the whip correctly... so can cause problems at the end of the day...

As everyone has said, lock ring tool, chain whip and breaker is what you will need and the new cassette.

 

Your lbs will be more than willing to assist.
