Ultegra Di2 groupset price

what you say is true; the distribution model of Shimano has been a pain for importers for ages; North American blow-out being a perfect example; that being said, its Shimano's responsibility to solve it, not the end client.

Sorry for the LBS, but if I can save R14k by sending an email and wait a week, then I sure as hell am going to do it.

Not getting it cheaper because its not packaged as a complete groupset..... not my problem... Wiggle and bike-components.de just solved something Shimano apparently feel no  need too.

Coolheat is not the hole problem. Shimano International play a big role. There even bigger issues in the US where the US distributor can buy stock from European retail shops cheaper than they can get it directly from Shimano Int.

OP shimano don't do groupset pricing so each individual part is priced separately thus there is no discount for buying the whole groupset.

I have just had a look at a price list and 30K is a fair price (you not being ripped off by your LBS) Drop me a PM if you want more details.

I have just had my Di2 11spd Shifters, Derailleurs, Cassette and Chain replaced for 16k.

Crankset & BB, Calipers and wires don't cost 14k.

It's the damn wires, junction boxes, battery and charger that cost so much, at RRP ±8550.00

Thanks for the feedback gents. Going to make a call on this next week.

Spoke, I have priced the parts individually  and you spot on, the wires and junction boxes make up most of the cost.

That's disgusting... Probably some of the cheapest components in the groupset.

350mm cable to connect the shifter to the stem junction box (nothing special just sending a signal) R864.00  and you need at least two of them.

Looks like it's just three or four wires, with a proprietary connector at the end. Lovely.

in a nutshell

Looks like it's just three or four wires, with a proprietary connector at the end (+Shimano printed on it). Lovely.

R4K difference between Evo & quote from LBS. That's a fair chunk of change. Then the difference between Wiggle & local is just astounding.

Evo are out of stock and they wont be getting it back in at that price through local channels.
